Are there direct analog or digital replacements that can be installed to replace the idiot lights on our boats? I actually prefer to have a meter that would indicate a voltage drop instead of a light that comes on about 30 seconds before the battery is dead. Same for oil pressure and temp. Not sure who decided that idiot lights were the solution......by the time they come on the problem is already too far gone.

I doubt there are any direct replacements since all gauges are tied to the ECU. You can buy and install an auxiliary gauge, probably find one pretty cheap online. Not a bad idea actually...

I too hate idiot lights. I certainly would prefer gauges for key items such as engine oil pressure, voltage, and engine coolant temperature. I have an easy inexpensive solution for voltage. I bought a digital voltage readout that pushes into the cigarette lighter connect (auxiliary) on my speedster. The readout can be seen in bright light by shielding the sun slightly with my hand. At least I can check that I have about 14 or so volts while running knowing my battery is getting charged. Anyone have some solutions for Oil pressure and engine temperature. So far I have not found any good options.

I like that idea for the voltage meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter plug, Gordo! Just checked and they are available on Amazon for less than $5. Think I'll order one!! Now, if I could find the engine temp sensor on the engine, I bet there's a solution to take that feed and send it to a gauge instead of a light. Probably the same for the oil pressure. When I get a chance, I'll fish around for them in a service manual.
