called on a 2008 with only 24 hours. I found out after calling 24 hours after the supercharger was rebuilt and that seadoo reset the hour meter after performing the service? So the boat really had over a hundred twenty hours or who knows?
strange is anyone else heard of this how do you tell how many hours are really on the boat?

I would say this is NOT the norm. It is cloer to fraud than not. If the engine was replaced and or rebuilt, then I could see this being an "ok" thing to do. But the SCr has virtually nothing to do with the hours on the engine...

I heard from more then one employee that on the rentals the mechanics would reset the clock to zero every time they would service them.

you can reset service hrs but not the total hrs. total hrs are locked in the ecm memory. i dont think the average mechnic can reset total hrs. new ecm installed ?
that why i have always say, dont trust what people say when you are buying. ask to see the print report!!
see below the candoo screen, even candoo say its illegal to do!!

That sounds more logical.. By resetting the service hours it just makes it easier to track things. Simply plug in and you can see how many hours since last serviced...

On this same subject. How easy is it to get the hours out of the system? Dealer I'm in contact with said they are not Sea Doo dealer and can't get the info. Now my BS meter is warming up.
Boat I'm interested in is '06 Utopia with twin 155's.

Very easy with the correct tool. I recently bought the Candoo Pro and it displays all the info stored on the MPEM, Owner, hours, ect ect..
