Any one bought a 2011 or 2012 Challenger 180 from a dealer? Curious what they are actually going for right now.

Wow!

Bought 2011 Sea doo Challenger 180 SE for 17K (18 hrs)

That's an awesome deal! That had to be a private sale, not thru a dealer. The best price I've seen on a 2011 (non SE) was 17.4K... wanted to buy it but missed by a few hours (it sold).

I'm amazed at the prices tho, they're all over the place! And for the most part ridiculously high... see alot of 2009's and up asking almost as much as 2012 new!!!??? (2012 SE brand new, no tower, 25.7K)

I dont think I ever posted here. Not sure if mine was a deal or not but I think it was. I got a 98 Sportster 1800 for 6K last year. The boat only had 30 hrs on it when I picked it up and was verified by a dealer. The thing is immaculate. Not a scratch on it. The guy I bought it off of was as anal about his toys as anyone I ever met. Waxed it everytime it came out of the water!!! Got life jackets, tubes, skis, and kneeboard with it as well. Also came with a trailer that had about 100 miles on it. He showed me where he launched the boat and it was only 10 miles from his house.

1995/Sea-doo/Speedster/150hp/MN 2012. I got the entire thing plus trailer for $80. Though does need some work, one engine is blown and the upholstery needs to be redone. Other then that the thing is in great condition.

I want to see some pictures of this $80 boat.

I've been searching for few months. I almost pulled a trigger on 2009 180SE 17K or 17.5K (but I decided to wait when I saw prices all over place)... few days ago, I found 2011 180 SE 18.8K but he wanted cash and no title in hand so I decided to wait. 24 hours later I found Private Seller who needed to sell it due to really really bad health issue.. I jumped on the deal ..

That is an awesome deal however, I would definitely get the MPEM tested in the boat and price out engine options before investing a dime. You might make more money by just cleaning it up, putting it back together and selling it as is.

I did get the MPEM tested and it all checks out good. And I will be able to rebuild the damaged engine for less than $700. Upholstery should be about another $100 in materials, and I can do the actual sewing and such. In all I should have about a grand invested in the boat, and from what Ive seen around my area I could possibly sell it for around 2-3 grand. That is if I ever do sell it.

That is awesome, that's what I call a 'deal'. There is a guy on here that sells kits for each boat with everything already sewn for you, I highly recommend him...Keith at http://www.seadooupholstery.com/Home_Page.html
Congrats on the new boat.

Hello. First post on the forum!! I bought a 1996 Speedster from a guy on boat trader.com. Paid $4500 and he threw in a tube and half a tank of gas. I haven't had any issues with the boat and everything seems to be in great condition. Both engines tested in the 140's and the test drive went very smooth. There's a little bit of cavitation on a full blast start, but I'm getting the feeling that might be normal for boats of this vintage. This forum was very helpful in learning what I needed to be looking for when I went to buy. I look forward to bringing you guys all of my future problems!

Just bought a 96 Speedster from a guy I found on boat trader. It seems to be in really good shape. Thanks to info I got from this forum I checked the compression, 140's all around, and took it for a 30 min test drive. Everything checked out ok so I bought it for $4500. It's my first boat and I couldn't be happier. I'm looking forward to tons of fun on the water and hopefully few issues. for years i wanted to try out a seadoo so one day my manager had asked me to go by and do some work at his house and when i got there i noticed he had 2 seadoos in the water, after a long conversation with him it turned out he also had a 1997 seadoo sportster that he wasnt using anymore, apparently it wouldnt keep him above water when water skiing, so after a little research on the internet and the help of a few threads on here i went back to him and we agreed on a price of $2500 , took it out and noticed there was allot of cavitation, with the help of all you great people on this forum i was able to figure out the problem and after spending 70$ its now running allot better.

1998 Sportster 1800 w/ decent trailer, hours unknown, 1 hour test on river. He was asking 5500, brought it home for 4500 and have been on the lake every Sunday since. But it's time for some much needed and neglected maintenance. Will be busy over the winter. Still runs 43mph on the gps, just starting to flood when it sits to long and that engine is sluggish.

1996 challenger, it sat uncovered for two years but had a newer motor with approx 30 hours. Paid $1100. Needs cleaned up, new upholstery along will all the maintenance basics. Trailer needs work as well. Took it out on the water last weekend and burned a tank of gas before the old wear ring delaminated on me... Ran great.
With a lot of elbow grease and some general maintenance, this will be a great boat. Bought it knowing that I'd have to spend at least $2k more to get it where I'd like it.

Check out my up and coming build thread for all the details.

I just purchased a 2000 seadoo challenger 1800 with the 2 stroke mercury efi 240hp motor off of my landlord who is 68 yrs old. He bought it new and put around 30 hrs on it total! He only added oil one time to the oil tank. The leather seats are original with not a single tear or fading marks, basically it is in mint condition also trailer was used maybe 5 times....picked this package up for $5000...Was that a good deal?

99 GSX.jpg

Just bought in Florida a 99 GSX Limited for $900 w/ trailer. Most likely just needs a carb rebuild and fuel lines exchange and a good general cleaning.

Do you guys think it would be a good deal to buy a cosmetically nice 1996 (or 97) challenger w/ the single 787 for $1600 provided the motor ate a rave valve? It comes w/ clean title and trailer and is very near my house. Has bimini and cd player.

Some back payments were owed to me on a building I sold on contract and with the economy being what it is he was a little behind. So, like a fool I took his 98 Speedster for two payments which is equal to $2500.00 I knew there was a problem with the starboard engine but but thought it was electrical as he had a dealer replace the mpen and repair some other wiring to the tune of $2400.00. So with 40 years as an auto tech and shop owner I figured it would be a breeze to fix. Wrong wrong wrong the engine was a piece of crap and is now out for a rebuild at SES. The boat ,interior, gelcoat, and trailer are in good but dirty shape. The port engine sounds ok out of the water and the pumps, so far, look ok. So when it's all said and done I'll be so up side down in the boat that I hope it will be high in enough fun factor to make all my work and expense worth it. One good thing may be that the original mpen may be good and I got that with the boat along with a nice factory cover. The boat has always been stored inside summer and winter. Rick

I just picked up a 97' speedster last week. twin 720s, brand new cover (cost $300 and is 2 months old), trailer, seadoo towable tube, spare tire for trailer, 3 life jackets, and 2 paddles....

It was all free :). My girlfriends parents have had it since it was new and have put a grand total of 45 hours on it. They didn't want it anymore since they never use it so they offered it to me. All I had to do was drive 15 hours to pick it up...

I will be replacing all the vinyl this winter and I just purchased a new flow max ball scupper today for $9.99
