How bad is it?

I am looking at buying a 1995 Speester. Seller states in his ad that it ran fine last year but now he can only keep the starboard engine running if he sprays starting fluid into it. Should I say no way and find something different or does anyone think that this could be a fixable problem. I don't mind doing the work. My biggest concern is what type of damage this starting fluid use my have caused to that motor.

a mod will do it.

If it isnt super cheap, I would stay away. Sounds like it hasnt been taken care of and the carbs need a rebuild.

The 95 was a really crappy model, one intake splitting to two pumps.

They changed the design the next year.

Yep... needs love, and is a goofy design. Stay away, unless it's cheep, and you want a project.
