Hockey anyone??

So a couple weeks into the season and the top point scorers in the NHL looks like this:

1. Evgeni Malkin, PIT 21
2. Alexander Semin, WAS 19
3. Ryan Getzlaf, ANH 19
4. Jarome Iginla, CGY 18
5. Corey Perry, ANH 17

Who do you guys think will end with the most points this season? Goals? Best GAA and Save %?

I think Malkin, Iginla, or Ovechkin are good for point leaders, Heatley will be up there too. But out of those five I hope Getzlaf keeps pace. I have always liked his style of play and would much rather a centre like him playing beside heatley than spezza (not saying I don't like Spezza though)

For GAA and S% im not sure....that one really depends on a lot of things.
I am hoping Turco turns it around though...and I will guess that Thomas holds onto the lead in those categories.

Hockey Memories.

Its a great game thats been spoilt over here and in many a Country.
My Son played a couple of years and started at the age of 8.
Its a game that needs more skills than soccer and football. should be started at a very early age. And only the best out of the bunch get to play top end.
I found it to be one of the most compeditive sports out there and it can get very nasty. Nasty for the kid that gets it wrong on the day of the match.
Maybe from the Coach the other team members or there Parents.

If I had thought it through before putting my son into it I would have left it well alone.BUT!
Its made him a stronger a person through doing it and he has gained a skill that has made him lots of friends.
We also got to go on Holiday to Canada and see what all the caffufel was about.
The Hockey hall of fame was great. It was quite emotional reading up on all the old stars achievments and learning about all the sacrifices they had went through to get to the top. Great Place.
We got to watch the Marlies as we didn't realise how hard it was to get tickets for the Leafs. Good game and we meet Ian White defender for the Leafs, as he was sitting in the seat infront of us watching the game.
I used to go watch games over here but dont bother now.
Its a game thats changed over the years with new rules being introduced on a regular basis. Not for the good of the game imo. Its to keep it in touch with all these health and safety laws, and keep do gooders happy.
But I watch the old games on DVD now and again. Those old time keepers with no masks on had some balls. Like I say Health and Safety can kill sports off no end.

Hockey?.......

Hockey?............hmmmmm. We used to have a hockey team. They left because no one went to their games. Let me see, what was the team name...Mobile Seagulls....<no>...Mobile Bay Bears <no, that's the baseball team>....wow, I just can't remember. But I don't think they played like in the professional world. Like our baseball team, there like double A or something like that. I don't go to their games either. They did just move Hank Aarons home to the stadium though. He's a Mobile native and our stadium is the Hank Aaron stadium.....

Anyway, I like to go to the beach or college and watch the babes play sand soccer or beach volleyball..........now, that's a sport!.........:hurray:

Its funny how some kids get in a tantrum and smash there sticks over the top of the net. LoL. Those things cost some.

I used to feel sorry for those kids that play Net When there up against the top team and they put 30+ goals past them. They get man of the match though LoL.

Lightning doing significantly better now! Actually not in last place!! WHOOHOO!

Well, looks like Lightning are now in second place...for the draft. Shaping up to be an interesting post season at least. I wonder how many teams will flame out at the end due to those hard pushes to make the playoffs.

Goalie.....

We had an AA team in Mobile some years past. It was the first time I saw a "sambonie".......I had to ask what that was.

The only one true word of advice I could give anyone is, do not sit behind the goalie in the upper stands. That solid rubber puck flying at you between 75 to 100 mph hurts if it hits you!.............

We no longer have the AA hockey leagues. They didn't get enough support from all us rednecks down here............

actually its called a zamboni its basically a ice resurfacing machine made in my hometown

as for sitting behind the nets well most ppl choose not to sit there they like to sit along the sides so they can see the rink better.

most professional hockey games now have netting setup so if the puck is fired over the glass it cant hit spectators.

I think after this incident all of the NHL venues have nets up to protect fans on either end near the goals.

http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2002/03/19/hockey031902.html

I remember a few seasons ago when we still had Cory Sarich, the team was on a PK and he tried to clear the puck with a slap shot down to the far end, but it was elevated enough that he shot it over the side boards and into the crowd..and area with no netting. I don't remember how badly it injured anyone, but there are definitely hazards to watching live. Luckily (:ack:) my seats are 3rd level, corner on the attack side so no chance of them shooting it up there!

Cheap seats!....

Well, sitting behind the goalie may not be par for the course for you, but I'm a frugal spender. Those were the "cheap" seats. Now I know why! Oh, we had no net behind the glass either.

Your team looks good right now.

I am rooting for them to win the cup, even though they beat my Penguins! Ryan Malone is a Pittsburgh native, and he was a good team guy for us when he played with the Pens.

I am so happy that both the Caps and Flyers were swept in the second round!

Its definitely exciting to be back in the playoffs. We were pretty bad again for a couple years due to a terrible owner situation. Win or lose this round we have had a successful season. Hoping that we win it all though!

Finally....
Tampa vs Boston on Saturday. Could this wait be any longer?
