So every time I think I know everything about these pipes.. another wrench comes in. long chamber.. short chamber.. Rxx are different? Any FFP historians out there? I have a pretty good story but checking my resources first! (:

The long chamber pipes mean the one rear cylinder had a longer chamber which is why racers kept burning down rear cylinder. No way XPL twins will fit in a X 4.. but will RXX pipes?

They are built to the parameters of the RX hull. They really fill it up, it's hard to do anything in there.

I can't claim "the best or greatest X4". I have to say "pump gas 787 powered" because 951's like yours can power one to 70mph(although most are 65ish).

The one I consider the greatest is one in Europe. The bought a carbon fiber Westcoast racing ski from the factory team right after the last race of the season. Then they got a Miller 1050 for it. I'm saying all this because it has the twins! They actually cut them down(as well as other mods I'm sure) to fit. This is not easy of coarse because they are inner/outer pipes and they have to pressure test.

It would probably be almost just as easy to fab up some new ones rather than chop some up and reassemble. If someone has access to a water jet or cnc the make the couplers the rest would be fairly cut and dry.

Interesting Matt. Love to see photos. My ATM x4 hull is wicked fast with 787 lim . 1050 is,crazy. We built twin pipes in Jordan Fielders SXR. He won Finals that year. Pipes involved 400 plus hours of time. Never again.. thinking those rxx pipes may fit!

There is no way rxx pipes will fit without serious modification. They barely fit the rxx hull.

Serious? Seems like RXX fires one chamber backwards. Bear with me.. been a decade since I have even touched a set.. im just in an opportunistic position with this kind of x4 mod.

Reality is our SS 1050 Rossier motors made only 8 hp less than twin pipes. But twins look so damn cool and sound great..

yes the mag chamber goes up and back. The pto down and under the carbs. The inside of the top deck on the rxx is larger than the x4 I just can't see it happening without ruining a set of twins

Keep telling me it cant be done game on! Lol. Just a 1 in 500 shot. Well.. reality is there is an issue on RXX twins causing those boats life expectancy to 30 hrs max. I suspect RXX and early XPL long chamber have same issue.. one chamber has noticablebly longer chamber.

The flanges where it attaches to the block are the problem there prone to fracture allowing water into the engine. Then boom grenade. Ask me how I know lol. Mine didn't grenade but would have if wasn't riding with seat off testing it

Little back door history.. we went down in 98 to Fpipe and spent 4 days straight mocking up GP 1200r pipes. Just ask Ross L if he remembers Racin Ronny .. we were building James Bushnells boat at same time.

Got my attention! . I ran twins on XPl all season. Seems there was some exacting detail work on fit. I would suspect those RXX pipes are in pinch. Racer guys found alot on these pipes 99 thru 02. However no racers breaking head chambers.. interesting 500. Buttttt Damn we broke a lot of Rossiers pipes.

So Mr 500 ... bottom line...is where are these pipes to buy? Seems they only made 500 RXX boats. Really would like Rossier Orig instead. Any resources?

I have a blown Rossier pipe. I sent it out to a welder in TX who cut it apart and is repairing the damage and welding it back up so it pressure tests. I have twins and the Coffman for this XPL also, just gonna see whats best.

The only set I know of the guy won't come off of them unless you buy the whole package he has a wrecked rxx think his name is NJ realtor on the other forums. I would like to have a backup set for my rxx

Matt Braley did you sell your twin pipes when you sold the rxx's? Didn't you have a set because you ran single exhaust on one?
