Hi guys. I am the new owner of an immaculate 2004 RXP. The previous owner was riding it when the clamp came loose on the oil pump. Water was vacuum sucked into the engine. I bought the watercraft for $200. Hull is in amazing condition. The guy just wanted it out of his garage so I figured why not. I could really use some help on what I will need for parts. Or how much a whole new engine is, and where I can purchase one from. Yes I know it wont be cheap! lol. :)

Thanks Brad

Hi & welcome to the forum.

Did the PO get the water out of the motor ASAP?

even if he did it still may not run correctly today.

SES (PA.)& SBT (FL) are the 2 most known shops for rebuilds....SES rebuilds your motor and SBT sends you one that's already rebuild.....check out their website for prices. Full Bore in Michigan has done lots or work for members also

They took the ski to a dealer a few days after it quit running. The tech told the PO that the motor was toast and he would have to put a new one in, for a ridiculous amount of labor. So the guy cut his losses. It did not run once it sucked water in. What normally goes bad when water is sucked in? Obviously its not combustible, but what all could it have damaged?

Internal rust issues.

Destroys rings and all those nice clean unprotected metal surfaces.

The water itself does not affect bearings to badly. It is more that the water does not let oil get to the bearings. Which then get destroyed.
