I put them in every ski/boat I build or repair. I wouldn't run without one. It's a 1/4" thick. Anything you can do to help combat the cavitation is worth every penny. I can stab the throttle on any one if my skis and it's gone, no cavitation. I also seal up the pump shoe to the hull to also help eliminate any chance of air intrusion/disturbance. Do you have a local dealer? They're under $10 iirc.

Yes, I do have a local Seadoo dealer, should they have the neoprene seal? Do you think at this point I should install the seal, change the cone oil, install air plug silencer, then take it out for a test drive to see how it runs then go from there?

I'm thinking if doing all that fixes the issues (whistling noise and cavitation) then I'll leave it at that. If not, it wouldn't be hard to remove it all back then I can pull out the drive shaft and insepct it and bearings closer.

Lastly, will any 75w-90 full synthetic gear oil work for the cone? I was planning on using the Valvoline. What type of grease should I use for the drive shaft splines?

Thanks!
