the rear cylinder is bored .050 over and the front is stock.... how common place is this? or is it just the years of working on bikes ( motorcycles ) and trucks and cars, but something tells me that this is a ****ed up half ass rebuild done before i got it.so what do i do next
?

I would hope most machine shops would tell you to leave if you only wanted one cylinder bored and the other one untouched.

thats what i would think, but you never know. the shop might have told him , and he said i dont have the money for both. so the shop done just what he paid for.

I think most shops would tell him to get lost if he asked for that.

The last thing they want is for someone to bring that boat back for a warranty job, or to complain to other potential customers about their shoddy service.

I would think he did it himself.

OK, posted that last post and started to thing to myself...So WHAT if one piston is pushing more psi and ci than the other.

Would it really stress the crank THAT much?

Has anyone done any research on odd-sized cylinders and/or compressions?

started think, psi is psi, then if you think about it, theres displacemant and jetting differences. I would think, hav'n the different displacement, then it would roll the lesser one faster, mak'n the detonation off...?

adjust the carbs to each cylinder, and run it. One punches harder but it is like tetherball. One guy is stronger than the other but both are pushing in the same direction. It would get a rhythm and spin the drive shaft as needed.

Sorry to get off topic, but this is a good topic to get off on, to discuss a rarely seen modification.

so i already got a jet kit from bill at watercraft magic..... what else should while i have it apart. intake reeds and holders or what i onley wanna do this once.

I'm almost sure it was a dealer who only punched one cylinder. Most likely it was a warranty issue. The ski probably dropped that cylinder for whatever reason and was brought to a dealer. Most likely the dealer made contact with bombardier and recommended a change out. They probably said nah repair the
Cylinder , they paid for machining, piston, rings and labor.

I worked as a diesel tech for a peterbilt dealer, there is a thousand cat motors out there right now rollin down the interstate with two or three oversized pistons in them. The owners would scream bloody murder wanting a complete rebuild , but with warranty you get what the oem agrees to pay for.

I'm sure if there is a rotax/oem piston in there it will verify what I've said.
Just a thought could be wrong.
