Im new to the jet ski world. I bought a 1997 GTI, a 2001 GS and a 1997 GTX. My GTI and GS run great! I am however having a very perplexing time with the GTX. I get it in the water and it boggs to 3000 RPMs, and 10mph for about 8-10 minutes. Then it runs fine for the time Im running it. I leave it sit for over an hour and the same thing. Boggs for 10 minutes and then runs fine. I rebuilt the carbs, changed the fuel lines, cleaned all the filters, cleaned the powervalves, did a compression test. (150 in both holes). Very stumped here. Thanks for the great forum and any and all help!

Is is smoking a lot when it happens? Perhaps blown crank seals? Or really leaking needles. Did you replace them? Did you do a pop-off test? OEM carb kits? The diaphragms on some non OEM ones have that little brass nipple too long and it could open the fuel I think. If you kill it while it is bogging, what do the plugs look like? Have you replaced the plugs lately? What happens if you pull the choke while it is bogging?

I did not do a pop off test yet. That was my next step. It smokes bad at first, yes. The plugs are very very wet with fuel When I look at them. I put 2 sets of new plugs and the same thing. Very wet. I forgot to turn the fuel off one night, and it filled the cylinders with fuel. Hope this helps. thanks in advance for the help

Try disconnecting the red rectifier wire. See if the problem goes away. Stay close to shore as you are running off the battery when you do that. If the problem goes away, replace your rectifier.

If it filled the cylinders with fuel, it sounds like the needles are being held wide open. I think the diaphragms are in there wrong, or are the wrong ones. Or the needles are REALLY damaged. The carbs have to come off and be looked at. These skis should not siphon gas like that.

The 97's had a "sticky Rave" problem that just did not go away. The BRP engineers cured this with "Slotted" raves.
