gsx cutting out

i have a 98 gsx ltd that i just took out for the first time. ran pretty good at first then it started cutting out and die once in awile. i have to wiggle my key to get it to crank over and start. the key is new. the cutting out doesnt matter if its at low or high rpms. does not do it at idle or just off idle.any ideas thanks.

Sounds like your post is bad. The same was happening to me on my 1997. So, I think with age, the magnet of the post gets weak and is not able to transmit the information from the ROM (read only memory) chip inside the lanyard to the mpem.

can that couse the cutting out too, or do i need to investigate that further?
