Hi everyone. Hope your well.

I purchased my ski a few months ago and I'm getting my head around it now.

When i got it the starter wouldn't turn over. I spent some time learning the setup and ended up replacing the starter solenoid and all is now working (as far as I am aware, it now starts and runs OK out of water. I have only ran it for about 10 seconds about 4 times )

Anyway moving on I have been reading the manual and concerned about the oil as it is injected.

I currently have about 6 litres of silkolene aqua 2 oil. Can I use this or not ? Any help appreciated

No, you have to use a full synthetic API-TC certified oil. You can't use an "all watercraft" or TCW-3 oil.
Your choices are Seadoo XPS E-TEC 2T, Amsoil Interceptor, Mystic, or any other oil that specifically states "Full Synthtic API-TC".

thank you so much mate i will have a look and get some ordered :)

I know Castrol makes one in the UK that is an API-TC full synthetic but not sure of the name as a member here was talking about it.

I found some Lucas Oil that is API-TC certified. They offer it in both Full synthetic and semi-synthetic. Better to say $30 a gallon and $26 a gallon at Academy. LOL because saying something is full synthetic isn't always true but they get away with it. The key for me is it meets the requirements from what I'm reading. Gotta remember these skis are old the oil has come a long way since they were manufactured. YMMV

If the oil meets the certifications it meets the certification. I worked at Chevron for 28 years which doesn't make me an expert but I've been around a bit. :) When these skis were built the API-TC was a high quality oil. Today... there are much better oils and more and more will meet this specifications. I'm looking at the general two stroke oil put out by Lucas and even that meets the API-TC and JASO FB certifications. To each his own but I'm running LUCAS and advising everyone in my area to do the same. Most skis I've seen use the blue stuff anyway because of price. LOL Not many people are gonna pay Seadoo prices around here for sure. :D :D

The Lucas is only semisynthetic so it isn’t approved in the 787 or 951.

thanks for the comments, really appreciated !!! is it 1/4 inch fuel pipe ? thanks

Sorry, I see you have a RFI fuel injection ski so you can’t use standard fuel hose. On a RFI ski you should never have to replace fuel lines.

"Meets or Exceeds requirements" is all that is needed. Doesn't have to be synthetic base oil to meet or exceed requirements for a certification.

No way for Seadoo to approve an oil that did not exist 20 years ago and they surely won't run an engine test on an engine they no longer manufacture much less prove that an oil that costs half as much as theirs passed the test.

Anyone in the oil industry would simply look at the label and see that it met the certification and vote with their wallet. It is that simple but to each his/her own $$.

There may even be a less expensive oil that meets requirements. I"m not sure of the price yet though.

But the requirement is full synthetic API-TC so how does a semi-synthetic meet that spec?

I clearly stated that Lucas manufactured API-TC in full synthetic which was the point. Good Price and save $$.

I have only seen the Lucas that you posted above which is semi synthetic “synthetic blend “. Do they make a full synthetic?

Check out this one Gene.

Full synthetic, API-TC, low ash and injector or premix. Sounds perfect for the 787 and 951.

The synthetic blend would be perfect for the 720, 650 and 580.

Yes that is what I bought from Academy "Full Synthetic". The stuff I posted "Blend" was because they were out of the Full Synthetic. I Needed oil. :D The oils you posted are the ones I was looking at on their site. I want to order a 35 gallon drum but I want to talk to a product specialist. As I say oil has come a long way since these skis were manufactured. The only issue I see with the blend is temperature at high RPM which.... 6800 really isn't high RPM today. Dispersal pattern on the 951 is very important so the oil must atomize well. Personally, I don't think there is much of a difference between the :Blend" and the "Full Synthetic." Looks like they are using Ester Base which has had problems mixing with other oils but they resolved that by making the Polyalfaolephin Base more friendly to Ester Base. They did that 10 or more years back so it shouldn't hurt to mix them.

I wrote to Lucas last week about the applications and have not heard back. Don't want to hi-jack the thread. LOL
