Getting the oil out of the 4-Tec engine

Trapper,

I also own two 09/130 GTI's and even though I have a similar amount of hours on them this summer it is a good practice to change out the oil before storage. Other than that, that is all that is actually required besides ensuring the coolant in the closed cooling system is checked with a hydrometer.

Thanks Jim. I am a noob with PWC's and have been scouring the internet for information but so much of the advice I read is conflicting, especially when it comes to winterizing. For example, I thought I read where on the N.A. 4tecs, the exhaust manifold must be flushed with antifreeze to prevent trapped water from freezing but you don't do that and you're okay? What about fogging the cylinders and intakes? I'm in Ohio so it gets below zero a lot! I want to do it myself and save a few hundred bucks but I don't want to screw it up. I'm trying to find specific 2008 winterization instructions that will show me step by step procedures. Is there such a thing?

Trap, I may get a blast from some of the diehards here about my storage practices but I also store a GL1800 Goldwing, Yamaha 700 Rhino, two Skidoo's, Honda snow blower etc.. and I have yet to fog the cylinders in any of them. Usually I change the oil, add fuel stabilizer and wash them. As for the Seadoo's, I store them tilted to the rear to drain off any water that may hang up in the exhaust but have never flushed with antifreeze. Never had an issue with them. It gets very cold here on the east coast of Canada and I store these in an unheated garage with a battery tender connected to each. In the spring I do a visual inspection on each, put them on the trailer and bring them to the cabin.
