Gas Tanks Left in Rain

Hi, I filled up 3 gas cans and forgot to bring them in the garage, the nozzles where pointed up and it stormed hard last night. Is it ok to use still or have I wasted $50 of gas?

Gas is lighter than water so you should be able to separate the two if you are careful

Why are you storing gas in an open container?? Never, ever a good idea.

You could syphon the good fuel, and leave the water at the bottom, you could even get a fuel filler funnel with a fine mesh filter, which prevents the water from flowing thru it,,,

They make funnels with a water seperator filter built in. I use them when ever I fill up, they slow refueling down a bit but they give you a last line of defense for this type of situation. The gas is still good, just don't get the water in your engine.

Seal those jugs next time.
