I see there is a similar thread from a few weeks ago, but wasn't sure if it was hijacking to post on there, so figure I'd just make a new thread.

I know a while back I ran across a thread on here of someone who was in contact with the owner of Fullbore and now I can't find it anymore... Anyone know who that is?

Coming up on a year since I sent my cylinders in and now all communication has stopped (even though there was very little from the start) and just trying to get ahold of someone.

The cylinders were delivered mid March, with a promised lead time of 6-8 weeks, I waited until July to contact them and was told they were waiting on piston rings and they just came in yesterday, would ship next week. Called again a month later and was told the exact same thing, the box they thought was piston rings last time was something else, but the piston rings really did show up this time... they'd be shipping it back to me next week, never got it. Called once a week or two, left voicemails a few times, sent a few emails from August to November and finally got ahold of them in November. Was told there was a "bearing issue with 951s" and they just came in and I'd have the cylinders next week. That was the last I've talked to them, still call every two weeks or so, never get a call or email back. Starting to get antsy to get it back now so I don't miss yet another season, so even though I feel bad for pestering them I'm starting to call daily, still no luck.

Anyone have some ideas?

I'm always shocked that a one hour job take so long to complete. That's why I stick to local vendors.

What engine are the cylinders for?

The member that was trying to help was @DanSquires I am pretty sure.
Thank you, that was the guy! I'll try shooting him a PM and see if that gets anywhere.

951 Carbed on a RXX

Went with Fullbore as the closest shop I could find to do it was still over 150 miles away and when I told them it was a RXX they were confused and kept asking if I meant RX. When I sent them pictures to prove it was indeed a RXX and they told me they didn't want to do it in case there was something different than the RX. As far as I know there isn't, but I also don't know jack about skis haha.

I'm on it, thanks Mik and Taylor

I'm always shocked the guy that once bragged he was boring cylinders on a lathe only pipes in to dog on someone else.

There were 5 or more shops in my area that worked on motorcycles when I was growing up. Everybody bored cylinders. Now it's rocket science. I've never had anyone ask what my cylinders came off of. We may talk about it in passing. It doesn't matter.... it's a hole. :D Oh well. Good Luck.

The engine itself is the same as an RX. But, yes she is a rare beast so treat her nice. I would use Group K, end of line.

These somehow slipped through the system (not an excuse,) but they're being done right now is what I'm being told.
Thank you for following up on this Dan we here appreciate your help.

This is not directed at Dan at all but at FullBore.

You can not claim that they fell through the cracks when the OP stated that he has tried contacting them numerous times and every time they have a new excuse then don't respond and then almost a year later say they are being done right now, once again. .

Yea, idk, I'm barely in the ski game anymore so I don't really knew what the fullbore status is. I do know it was improving and truly believe it fell through, and was being done right now only because I reached out.
I can/will continue to help when I can

Thank you Dan, that is a great help to the members here.

Dan, Could I get your help please?? I am in the same situation. I sent my 800's cylinders to FullBore last summer also. I was getting the same story of no rings last fall. Now they will not respond to any emails or voice messages. This was a gift to my son from his grandfather so he could come to his lake house.
Sad situation for me.

I got my cylinders redone from these folks recently. Sent them in Nov '21 and received them back Feb '22. I was promised January '22. I did have to threaten them a bit to get them back, mainly through filing an claim in PayPal.

I can't remember the name of the lady I spoke with, who pretty much runs emails/phones/paypal herself, but she mentioned that Dan (of fullbore) had taken down the facebook page for FullBore because "we can't have random people dogging him on his business page" and "it just seemed like people were using the page to pick on him more than it was helping him". The last post I remember seeing on his page was on Jan 6th '22 where he showed a video of his lathe boring someones cylinders, mentioning he had kicked covid, injuries from the last year, and had enough wsm/wosner parts to get his workload done.

I called them dozens of times in January and early February trying to get an estimate of time, and sent a handful of emails all of which were not replied to. Literally the day after putting in the PayPal claim, she called me to let me know they could have my cylinders in the mail in the next week. I asked a few questions to kind of get a picture of FullBore currently. From my conversation it appeared that FullBore's focus was on their 1000 or some odd customers that were local to them. I'm not sure exactly what FullBore is dealing with workload-wise from the rest of the US, but it seemed like they were a little tired of it. I'd bet at some point they go to a entirely local model and just close the site down at some point.

The last bits of this were my opinion, and in no way a certainty. Just sharing recent thoughts from my dealings with FullBore. Overall the service performed was quality, I'm just not sure I'd be willing to wait that long again.

TL;DR
If you haven't gotten a word back from FullBore and have tried calling, emailing, msging on FaceBook page (now dead) just file a PayPal claim. Only other thing you can do to contact them. Keep the claim open until they contact you informing engine parts are ready to ship, then close the claim.

Well .. Dangit.. They were so nice over the phone and helpful, a small mom and pop shop. I sent in two cylinder jugs from a 787 in October 2021 and called them numerous times since - I spoke with them a few times but since early March, I called numerous times, left over 3 voicemails and have not heard back. The lady on the phone is Laurie and she's very nice and all, and so is the owner (who does all the work), I forget his name now.. But it's frustrating that it has been nearly 6 months and they basically just needed to bore+hone the cylinder jugs and shave the rave valves that I sent along with them (I was doing a top end). This will delay the season for me and will cause some issues on my end, but unfortunately it is what it is. My concern is that they have my cylinders and rave valves & assemblies and I was told that I would get it all sent back December/January. Then when I spoke to them in January they said it would be sometimes in March.. The radio silence and non-call backs is what is kinda worrying me here. Does anyone know if they will be able to honor what I've already paid for? I paid them by credit card over the phone btw so I have no Paypal recourse unfortunately :(

Thanks

If its a credit card can't you contact the processor? (VISA, MC, etc). They may not allow it after some time. I'd call them today and see if you can cancel the transaction. Also see if you can send the processor receipts along with email communications. I'd do this asap. I'm sure a CC chargeback will get them to call you.

Yeah, VISA, although I'm in Canada so I'd get dinged a bit on shipping but the heck with that, I just want either the job done or parts back and I'll find someone else who can do it. Been patient enough.

@Vandal777 when you say last winter, you mean January 2021?!?! If that's the case, this is ridiculous and when I called back in October they should have just told me they couldn't take on any more customers.

I'm going to call VISA and see what they can do here.

Thanks for the info guys, I really appreciate it. I'm fairly new to the community and boating (and working on boats) and I love it so far. I'm hoping that things will improve a bit !

Yes sir. The ski is mint and was given to my son by my Dad so he could bring it down to his lake house and use it and stay there. So he could spend time with his grandson! So yeah so far he's missed an entire year (season) and I have begged for them to just ship me back my parts done or not! Here is the REAL punch in the face. My Dad did not want me (a master auto tech) to do it myself so he put the cash to send it to FullBore in the engine compartment with a note saying they do all his skis, to trust them...Unbelievable!

i called VISA and they recommended try for another month and if nothing then filing a dispute. I can get the funds back then, if I win the dispute, but I'm honest more upset that I likely won't be getting the boat done for this summer. I haven't had it for a couple years since my dad passed and I finally got around to fixing everything on it and this was the final piece to the puzzle. How very unfortunate this has all been ..
