Excessive Water in Exhaust

I am posting in a last ditch effort before I give up. Sorry about the long post.

1994 SeaDoo SP. 580 CC

My son rides the ski. Said it just quit. Pulled out of water. Very hard to turn over. Charged the 1 yr old battery and when it turned over water poured out the exhaust. Removed plugs and water in cylinders. Removed crankcase plug. I think I got all water out. Remove the muffler and full of water.

Got it started and then hooked up the hose. Couldn't keep it running. Muffler full of water again. Took the head gasket off and replaced O-rings around spark plugs and the O-rings at the top of both cylinders. Compression at 120 on both cylinders. #2 is pitted like something was in there at one time.

I got it back together and it idled so I turned it off quickly and then had my son water test it. Ran good for 30 seconds to a minute and quit. Started but quit right away again. Now it would turn over very easy like hydrolocked but didn't seem to have water in cylinders this time. Exhaust full of water again.

I'm at a loss. I was told it has to be O-rings or a cracked cylinder. The battery is one year old but I may have it tested. Didn't seem to crank as good as I expected after a full charge.

I know there needs to be water in the exhaust but how much?

I guess I could tear it down and take the cylinders and pistons out.

I'm certainly not an expert but have fixed a number of engines before. Any ideas where I should go next.

Thanks in advance,

First... Welcome.

Second... it's a wet exhaust, so it will have water in it.

With the original issue... your kid probably rolled the ski, and filled the engine full of water. It's not a big deal... and skis roll... but when you roll it back over... you have to roll it the right way.

120 PSI is very low for a seadoo, and it's time for a rebuild.

Wet batteries are strange. Just because it's a year old, doesn't mean it's any good. If you think it's cranking slow... it could be the starter... but it's easier to try a different battery, before you buy a starter. Oh... and don't trust the guy at your local auto parts store to test the battery. My neighbor just had a tractor battery tested, and they said it was OK. I made him go buy a new battery... and all his problems went away.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when I posted. Looks like it is pretty easy to tear it down and remove the cylinders. I really don't want to spend much on it. I never ride it anyway. I guess I could get cylinder in Ebay.

Thanks for the reply. I will post back when I know. I hate reading a thread with no conclusion. I'll try and post a pic.

BIgDawg

I decided I had enough and sold it as is.

If I hear what the problem was I will post back.

Ive got a 97 seadoo gsx, swamped it at sebastian inlet,fl. also hydrolocked the motor, after this I didn't have a clue, after remembering about
removing the water out of the motor, thru the plugs ,I did so, then with plugs out I used what was available, w/d 40 , about a 1/4 can per cylinder, install new DRY NGK BR8ES, it was able to turn over, water does't compress very well. Pulled plugs and re dried them off and reinstalled, turned motor over until it started. Did this process about 6-7 times ,reinstalled dry plug and she ran good enough to get the ski off the beach area, BIG fines, took on a hell bound ride for about a 45 min, until it ran normally for me, took home and remove all the water from all the electrical boxes and connections, cover with dielectric grease , did it on Labor Day, hasn't had a problem yet. thank god! Hope this helped even though you sold the ski.
