Sorry for the delay, I couldn't post from my phone. I have another issue now. The temp sensor readings were within range on both the old and new sensors. HOWEVER, the blue/brown wire has been unplugged by the P.O., so no voltage to be read there. I belive (no schematic) that I can see where it should plug in, but there is a wire going to a ground terminal in it's place. This wire does not appear to be OEM. If I understand all this corectly, the P.O. basically bi-passed the Temp sensor and lied to the TPS. If I run my meter between brown/black and the wire I believe brown/blue should hook up to I get 7.46v no matter what position the throttle is in.
ok so you hooked up jumper wires between the tps connector and when the temp sensor is disconneted you get 7.46vdc between the blue and brown on the tps jumper wires

Where us the best place to get a tps? Does anyone know if it's the same off any merc outboard, just thinking I might find a used one.

There's no good place to get them... and they are $500 !!!!!!!

BUT... when I look for OEM parts... I normally order them from boats.net.

There was a guy on Jetboating.net a while back that had a lot of extra sport jet parts.

Ok , So I just purchased a used fps off a merc outboard from a local boat shop. I had to cut the wires to change the plug so I metered the 2 sensors and hearer are the results.
My old one read on the 2000k scale 96- 276, and the new one on the same scale reads 0 - 11. According to the previous post I read here sounds like the new one is a lot closer than the old one. Hopefully this works, theres a ton of outboard style tps sensors on ebay. Ill pull the boat out shortly and give it a try.

Do you have the part number from the outboard style?

No sorry I don't, It just came out of a bin of used sensors and stuff from a local mercury dealer. All I can tell you is that the plug was round not flat like the sea doo one but I'm just going to solder and shrink-wrap the old plug to it, same 3 wire colour/ configuration. Whats your opinion on it? Any reason it wouldn't work?
