Disable OTAS ?

Hi All.

I know this isn't the boat section, but my question isn't specifically related to a sport boat.

I have a 2003 Sportster boat. It originally had a 155 non supercharged. I've upgraded the engine to a 260 supercharged, in turn moving from the Siemens ECU to a Bosch ECU.

Everything runs great, and im now just finalising a couple of smaller issues / loose ends. The one im trying to tackle at present is the OTAS system. The OTAS system is useless on the boat, however given the wiring loom / ECU im using is from a 2010 RXT, it has OTAS. Ive just plugged an OTAS sensor in to get rid of the DTC code, but seems like a waste to just have a sensor plugged in doing nothing.

So - Id really like to disable the OTAS system completely. Does anyone know a way of doing this with BUDS?

Thanks

I don't think you will be able to do this even with the megatech version of BUDS so it would need a complete reflash of the ECU. Why are you concerned with just having a sensor plugged in that will never activate? There are other sensors plugged in that will never activate as well such as the TOPS.

For three main reasons.

1) It serves no purpose. Whilst I agree that there are other sensors that seldom activate, they still serve a purpose (oil, temp, exhaust temp, manifold pressure etc)….although I do agree if the tops activates, things are probably in a bad way lol.

2) There’s nowhere to mount it, so it just dangles. Yes, I could secure it without too many issues…..but again back to point 1. Why bother when it serves no purpose.

3) I could put it in my box of “spare seadoo sensors), for use on another build.

Agree….its not the end of the world, but if it was a doable thing with buds (similar to disabling the IBR), I could desire it and make it all nice and clean.

I could also flash the ECU with the firmware from the 2012 speedster 260…..but the starting system is quite different to the wiring setup I have installed (a simple 2010 rxtx transplant).

Cheers!
