DESS replacement

Just acquired a 1997 Seadoo GSI That has no DESS switch. Ordered one and wondered if the original lanyard “key” will work or what else needs to be done to attempt start. I’m told an old fashioned stater switch by-pass to check basic operation will not work with this setup(?).

Your key will work with the new post. As long as its for that mpem. They lanyard key is programmed to that mpem, the post just connects them. I recently purchased a GSX and god knows where the key came from but it wasn’t for mine.

Do all 1997 Seadoos have the DESS system?
