i have a 92 seadoo that cuts off when it warms up and wont start back till its cooled off. im new to seadoos but my first thought is that it may be the coil starting to go out. what do yall think? can someone give me a part number or tell me what all models coil will fit mine so i can look for one on ebay? thanks in advance, and ive inclosed some pics of mine because im not sure the model.

Give me the numbers off the Hull on the rear of the pwc...that will tell me year and model.

just off the top of my head I would tell you to check the oiling system.....

sounds like you are running lean and having lean seizures....

the pistons are aluminum and therefore they expand under heat. when they cool they will shrink back down.

ok, thanks. what exactly do i need to check on the oiling system? i know its using oil, i dont know what else to check.

Is it injected or are you using pre-mix? if it is injector, make sure it is getting oil and the pump is working properly. Check the marks on the pump and pump lever disk the cable hooks to. The marks should line up. It should be in sync with the carburetor cable and movement.

ok, i'll check tomorrow to make sure its in sync. its oil injected, and i wanted to do away with that and mix it myself, buy the guy who worked on it for me said that most people leave it on seadoos. it dosent have a garden hose hookup like my jetboat, is there any safe way to run it out of water?

and is there any chance it is something to do with the ignition system? that just seems to me like it would be the easiest and cheapest place to start replaceing things. im not takin it back to the guy who worked on it last time, he charged me $60 to figure out it had a broken o-ring in the fuel filter housing.

there is a hose fitting on the rear of the PWC. It has threads in it for a hose to connect to. I would go to Walmarts and get a coupling connection in the garden center for like $2.00 and put on end on the seadoo and the other on the hose. When it stalled before on the lake did it still turn over or was it tight like seized up? If it still turned over it might be an electrical problem. YES, you can hook up the hose to the seadoo and have them run for up to 5 minutes. Connect the hose and start the seadoo. Turn on the water after it is started. Turn off the water, than shut down the seadoo. This way it won't allow water to back flow into the engine through the exhaust due to no back pressure from the engine not running. The bearings and seals on the impeller jet pump are cooled from being in the water. When it is on the trailer it doesn't have that cooling effect so they will get hot after about 5 minutes.
I pre start my seadoo's too, dry before I leave for the launch too. Just for a second or 2 to be sure it will start at launch. Peace of mind is worth lot.

It sounds like it might be the injector pump not pumping oil. follow the cable to the injector pump. on it is a mark and one on the Disk (pump lever) it attaches to. you might need a mirror for this one, make sure you see them line up. the carb and the oil pump must be in sync. (both move, open and close together) To check it run it on the hose, don't rev it up just turn the Disk( pump lever) all the way and see if the oil is pumping. If you can't tell you might have to remove it and do a real test on it.

The labor rate here in Florida is $99.00 per hour...1 hour minimum. Your mechanic is cheap...if he knows seadoo's.

thanks so much for the help, however im not sure exactly where the oil pump is, is it under the carb? the only oil line i can see is going there, and there is a cable comming from there that isnt hooked to anything. also there are a couple of hoses that are plugged off. i thought the PO done this when he put the aftermarket carb on it. should there only be one oil line, or am i not seeing them all.

and as far as the water hookup on the back, i cant find it. can you be more specific about where it is, i took a pic if that will help.

when it stalled out on the lake it would still turn over, nothing was locked up. i actually used the starter one time to get me to the shore, so everything is still turning over.

ive gotta charge the battery in it so i wont me messing with it untill tomorrow. thanks again for all the help

from the looks of it, that pump aint pump'n oil. to me, instead of installing the block off plate, they cut the line and plugged it up. Not a bad thing, i would install the block off plate though, just so the gear don't go bad thats behind the intake cover, and cause damage, but i recommend to mix that gas.
