crank test

I just finished replacing the starter brushes. Bench tested and it did spin what I think is the right way (counter clockwise) .

As a sanity check and before I drop the motor in... I'd like to be sure the starter cranks, engages, and spins the flywheel as in the pic. Don't want to have to pull it out again.

Are there any concerns with applying the cables to the battery posts? Do the plugs need to be out?

You can put power directly to the starter. I'd leave plugs in to put a load on starter.
