Is there some thing I can use to clean the inside of thul on my ski's? I was thinking something like simple green or similar. There was some oily water that was sitting in the ski and I just want to clean it up a little.

not really, just don't let it sit there forever, rinse it out asap.

i've cleaned out a good 20 filthy hulls...

my method is purple power or super clean , a pressure washer, and a wet vac...

spray with cleaner out of a windex bottle, let it sit a sec... pressure wash, then vacuum up the spooge with the wet vac,

repeat several times until the water is clear.

focus on the underneath part of engine, under the gas tank, and the corners...the gunk tends to be near the oil tank, the back corners, and around the PTO, take off your PTO cover and clean it out, its usually disgusting... do not spray the carbs if it can be avoided, if you have aftermarket flame arrestors, put a quart sized bag over them, thats what I do

and while your in there, time to grease the zerk fittings :)

zerk fittings, PTO covers... I'm still all new to PWC ownership...

I was planning on taking my skis out this weekend for their first real runs, but the recent rains down here in San Antonio muddied the waters up and and I'm sure theres tons of debris I dont want to be running in.

Soooo I guess I'll replace the grey lines, add an inline filter and do a little cleanup of the inside.

Any other "routine" maintenance advice you guys can give since I have some downtime?

on the back side of the engine. look for a grey plastic thing about 6 X 8" , looks like this.

if you have a 720 engine, it will look like this...

it connects with either two (i think 10mm) nuts or two wing nuts... remove it....
it will probably be absolutely disgusting black, filthy, full of grease on the inside, clean it with a rag, brake cleaner, rag, soap, more rags.. get it clean, but don't get crazy, cuz it will get dirty again...

underneath you'll see something that looks approximately like this connected to the hull with the driveshaft sticking out..., there is a bearing in there that needs greased, i used this pic cuz you can see the actual bearing

get a mini grease gun and give it two squirts on the little nipple (zerk) fitting, do not overfill, two squirts is fine,, this should be done every 50ish hours or so (if i remember right) i do mine about every 4-6 months.

have you downloaded and read the owners manual yet ?
if not,, shoot me a PM and i'll email you the links for the download

and while your digging in there, check condition of all your cables, connectors, etc.,
take a couple of the electrical connectors, pop them open and see if they are clean/dry or if they have a bunch of gunk in thee.

and the biggest thing is make sure your blinker fluid is full.....dont wanna get stranded with no blinker fluid..........happy boating

I briefly looked over them while researching some issues I was having. It seemed as if maintenance was dependent on dealership service from what I browsed over.

I'll take a look over them this weeks a well.

Thanks for the image examples!!!

720 owners...
( i assume these are 720's)

isn't there another zerk on the clutch ? and if yes, what's the procedure to grease ?

i've never owned a 720 myself so i'm not sure...

You forgot the prop wash, and don't forget about the knuter valve.

Hi.

Let me know, i always use my jet GTI 717 in salt water. After i use the flush kit with fresh water, all the times. But my question is, how can i clean inside the hull, i means can i clean outside the engine too? I never did that because i really dont know if there are some parts that cannot be washed.

Hobojoe, I have a 97 GTI...no zerk bearings, only a pto with a grease fitting. Mine was bone dry when I purchased and it took about 6-8 pumps on a full sized grease gun. If the previous guy took care of it maybe 2 squirts. My hull was so nasty that I used engine cleaner in there, but flush it out thoroughly and leave it all open for a while. If it's only a little dirty, Purple Power is great stuff.

Yes the inside can be washed. I've used Gunk engine cleaner, simple green and now Super Clean. Some people pour a little cleaner in and then add about 5 gallons of warm/hot water, then trailer it for a couples miles, while stopping and & turning. then you pull the back drain plugs and flush it out.
Use a shop vac to get any out that won't drain.

lol,, hell if I know... i've had it for quite some time :)

What else am I going to do to kill time and stay out of trouble ?
