Thanks, I'm hoping to do a test run tomorrow after work. I'll have the wife record a little video

This is freakin' awesome! I've been following this thread, for so long, that I feel like I'm waiting for the arrival of my first child. God speed for the maiden voyage!

You will definitely have to modify the plastic transom plate as teleflex has a much thicker cable end. That will surely take some creativity. Also, teleflex cables have longer travel, which may require some additional calibration.

Says the guy that cut the bottom out of his boat, grafted in the bottom of another boat, and welded up his own fuel tank. :D In all seriousness though the standard cable as it exists on the ski is probably fine barring any catastrophic events. In my case, both cables broke after being stressed from a previous hit(the cedar river in Iowa can be a rough neighborhood). How did the stock cable and steering wheel work on the challenger? Similar to a teleflex or more similar to the GTX?

Haha, ya, I kinda went off the beaten path with this one. I did what i had to, as i passed the point of no return when i took a grinder to the hull and began cutting. I appreciate the comments guys, maiden voyage coming soon!
The gtx had a beefy cable, considerably thicker than the one in it now. Only issue was the length. The boat's cable was thicker yet, and I bet there was a reason for that when seadoo designed this baby.

Got the motor all assembled last night. Compression was 170 and exactly the same on each cyl [emoji3]

Cleaned the few oil spills and debris from the engine bay

And in she went

Took a while again to re-align the motor. I pushed it as far fwd as I could. I read a bunch of forum threads where guys were having their thrust washers chewed up from the motor flexing back during choppy conditions. Anyway, I'm ready to start adding oil again and priming the system. I have a makeshift pressure gauge to see what the oil pressure will be. Will the engine not freak out of its not getting an oil pressure reading? I hear it's quite a challenge to clear these codes

Water test will have to be Saturday, doubt I'll be able to finish it and get it out in 3 hours. Going out tonight

So ready to see this in the water. Its been 2 years since i was sitting in that little boat. no longer will we have to complain about hp or noise..... i hope.

i hope Saturday turns out nice. im ready for 80-90 degree days.

Ha! Sat will be sub60! I don't care, I need to know this thing works. I need that reassurance. I'll putt around slowly for a while before I open it up and unleash the ponies. Loooooots of testing ahead

I cant disagree. I need to start my boat up. i did like 2 weeks ago but i really need to start cleaning it up. Tubes, wakeboards etc all over the place. Oh man! i cant wait to tube behind your boat. I wont have to breath in that 2 stroke smoke. My lungs will thank your 2 years of hard work.

Idk man, that 4tec puts out a ton of exhaust! I fired it up in the garage for just a sec and smoked myself out!

@ snikwad003

what kind of awesome job do you have!!! i wish my boss would even let me read this on the computer!

ugh. i hope the exhaust is at least cleaner than the cancer causing tcw3 oil! my boat smokes like a chimney burning pine

Dude ya!!! i have my monitors placed just so. i should take a picture of my office ha. i have a good old optiplex 9010 desktop placed on the left side of my monitor. it blocks it a solid 80% so i can read this forum. ( i have to view confidential documents so its not sketchy yet LOL )

did you double check to make sure you have all your paper towels? :p

Ha, paper towels didn't go near it during assembly!

Just put oil in it and fired her up, but she cuts out after a few seconds. Just sort of craps out... it's not complaining about anything on the gauge, and there is plenty of fuel. Could it be because I don't have the cooling hooked up? Perhaps the lifters haven't filled with oil yet?

Fouled plugs? Fuel pump?

Fuel pump comes on, I can hear it run, but not sure if it maintains pressure. It was not an issue when I had the paper towl in there. Maybe I should try sticking a couple back in through the dip stick?

Actually, the plugs were a bit nasty, so I took a propane torch to them to burn off the excess junk. Maybe that messed them up? It fires right up at first, then just sort of peters out and dies. Giving it throttle also stifles it.

Hmm pinched tubes... that COULD be it, maybe the fuel line is pinched between the tank and motor. There is quite abit of excess hose there. I'll have to look and double check when I get home. Thanks for suggesting that.

Make sure your exhaust is hooked up and no leaks. I had a rough running issue when my 4tec was still in the GTX. I was too anxious to wait to hook up the exhaust to see how it ran. It would run for a few seconds and then peter out, even with the seat off. Otherwise I vote fuel delivery, is there a tank vent on the fuel pump assembly? Try cracking your fuel fill to see if you have pulled a vacuum.

There is a huge 5/8in vent. That can't be it. Nothing on fuel sys changed. I MIGHT have pinched the fuel line some, there is a bunch of it I Can't see because of engine placement. I don't think it's exhaust either. I made sure everything was hooked up and tight. I even realized I may have not had the clamp on properly last time. It seems even more silent now[emoji3]

out of curiosity, are these high pressure fuel pumps or low pressure meaning the fuel pump only produces 25psi or something low. i had a fuel delivery issue on my ultra 130di due to a pinched hose.
