Out of curriosity do they make a tool for tuning the low speed needle? After having a tough time yesterday adjusting my low speed needles I had a thought. It seems like a tool could be made that would slide over the needle, lock into the pins and allow an easier adjustment.

guessing they do but ive just never seen it

a small flat blade with a long reach..?

Yeah thats what I did... but without being able to see anything it was difficult. Nothing super hard but a pain when I think something could be made that made it way faster and easier.

Basically im thinking of a tube notched in the center. It would slide over the low speed screw and the notches would engage the pins sticking out the side. You would just slide it over and start turning

I believe that Lou made one out of fuel line hose. Made a slit for the "T" and threaded thru a bracket for easy reach.

When i was working on some hard to adjust similar screws on small engines, I butchered a 1/4'' nut driver with a dremel that gave me a good reach. I was in a pinch one day and made one out of an old piece of brake tubing. My revised version now is part of a spedometer cable with a ground down point for the screw and a "T" for a handle. Works great when trying to get into tight spaces. I'd take a picture, but my buddy has that toolbox in which it lives..

You could always use the remote adjusters like you would use on a race kart. One end clamps to the adjuster screw and is connected via a cable to a "T" handle that you mount anywhere you like. On a kart you mount it to the steering wheel for easy adjustment while underway. (kinda hard to reach that tiny screw with gloves on while going 60MPH) :D
Thing is they are pretty pricey but seem failry simple to make with the right tools.

lol, u get get really fancy and do like this type,,,,using rc airplace servos...........:willy_nilly:

part of the issue i think, at least on the 787, is that the throttle linkage plate covers all or most of the LS needle at idle, so you can't very well permanently attach something to it. I will be doing the fuel line and zip tie deal for the idle speed screw, that one is a bear to get at too.

Not sure who I stole the idea from, here is the idle screw with a piece of fuel line. I painted white marks so I could track easily how much it was turning. Stirzzo is right, the linkage plate is in the way to do the same on the LS screw. Maybe with an elbow going down you can get a 1/4 each way adjustment.
