Can I purchase a very fast Jet Ski (PWC) for $1000?

If you do find a really fast ski for a thousand bucks, please let the forum know. In that price range, you may be able to find a 90's model in fairly good shape.
The super fast 4-TEC series that are out now probably run somewhere in the neighborhood of $12,000.00, depending where you are.
Dependibility, for a thousand dollars, it will be used, so the dependability will be based on how well the last owner took care of it.
Go to ebay and do a search on seadoo jet ski and look at the going prices. This will probably be the best way for you to get a feel for the price range of the PWC's.

uh $1000.00 won't buy ya much.Good luck with that one. I agree that E-bay would give ya a good Idea of what the general public has for sale. Just don't believe everything you see. Some good deals, some not so good...always test drive before you slap down any money, and maybe have a servicing shop check it out for you for a small fee.

i did some trading with a guy to get the two hx's i have the 95 is all stock but the 96 has some work done to it and its pretty quick. he wanted $3500 for the pair and a trailer.

I fit more into the category of exception to the rule with my purchase. I got a '90 SeaDoo SP for $200, no trailer and not running. After going through it, I will be putting maybe another $100 into it, tops, and should be on the water within a week or so. I can't say what the speed will be like, but I guarantee, It'll still be fun as can be. It won't be the fastest this on the Sacramento Delta, but for the price, a little piece of joy for me.
What matters to me might not have a bearing on what you are looking for in your price range but if you can get one for $1000, be happy with what you have until you can upgrade down the line. I want a 40 foot cabin cruizer with a huge rear deck to fish from, but I have my SeaDoo, still lots of fun and for a much better price, lol.

That was a good deal for the money.
there are ALWAYS a good deal to be found someplace. But it can rarely be found the first time you look. To find a nice ski for $1000 will be hard! If you spend hours looking on the net, in the shops, in the sales circulars ... buy the time you find a nice one for $1000, you would have $2000 :rofl:

If that GPS reading was from your SeaDoo, then I consider that to be the bench mark for "fast" on a PWC...
Now in a boat, I've been 136mph. in a 36' Daytona Eliminator & on land I drove my father-in-law's Berretta 164mph in a 1/4, those are my bench marks...

Allison!....
Here, on the river, the Allison is the "speed extreme" in boats that race all the time. Except for the once a year drag boat racers who come down to compete.
I've been over ?????????? miles per hour and with the chiming it did on the water, I must admit I've never got back in an Allison since!.........:ack:

Been down to Bama to race before, and Allisons are quick and fast, and like you said they have a small pad that's why I like tunnels... Our fishin' boat is a tunnel vee that only runs 90... The 36' Daytona I was sitting in the seat with a beverage of choice and my GPS showed 136mph, that's just not my cup of tea... there's nothing wrong with learning when to say when!!!
I no longer run sanctioned events, because of the family, the motor isn't as strong as it used to be, and I now only run a single stage nitroux system, and I run alot heavier & stronger piston, just to keep it together!!!

If I were ever going to go fast and could have my choice of boats, it would be the Miss Budweiser........., but I'd add afterburners, just to make it look cool, since the thrust on the engines really have no impact on the speed. They are geared to a prop.
I remember the older boats before the turbines, they used mostly Allison aircraft engines.....they were like 10 or 12 cylinders.......had a really cool sound. They could keep up pretty good with the Miss Budweiser, but that was when they first started racing them. Now, I don't think there are any left. There all turbines I think.

I had a 96 XP GIVEN to me, with a trailer. It did not run, but only needed $200 put in to it to make it get up and go. Another $200 into the trailer to make it safe and legal, and then another $200 into the jet and engine to make it more responsive. So I got a nearly-like-almost-pretty-close-to-kinda-looks NEW ski for $600:cheers:

Ugly old jet skis
Yesterday, I took a hair dryer out to my cheap ski and pulled all the old dated hot pink "splash" and XP decals. (I am getting some black zebra stripes made for it). It is now just a solid yellow bike. It looks 100% better. Doesn't look like an ugly old ski anymore. In fact, my neighbor came home and asked if i had gotten a newer one:cheers:
I think if you take those decals off and use some polishing or rubbing compound on the hull, you can make most of those ugly old skis look less old, and less ugly.
