Broke the pin on the top of the temperature sensor...

The piece where the wire goes on the temperature sensor broke. Prior to this the engine would not start but was turning over I think I flooded it forgot the choke first try :S. Once that broke no turn over no nothing..normal?

Can this be fixed without replacing the temperature sensor? Or do I need a whole new temperature sensor?

Is it normal that the engine wont start if that breaks or turnover nothing one that breaks?
