I Bought A Seadoo Xp 800 From A Friend It Sat For 3 Years In A Garage He Lost The Key.i Went To The Dealer To Get The Lanyard Key And They Tried To Program It And Said They Couldnt Even Communicate With My Seadoo Also No Beeps When Key Is Pushed On . I Messed With It All Day Tuned It Up And Got It Registered. The Battery Is New And I Have Traced Power From Battery Threw Ignition Box To Ecu Out Of Ecu And To Starter All Good.i Have Like 6 Fuses On The Ecu And The 2nd One Up From The Bottom Is Blowing Its A 5a I Dont Even Know Where To Start To Find The Short Or Whatevers Causing The Fuse Problem .everytime I Put A New One Immediately It Blows.and If I Cant Get The Ski To Beep They Wont Be Able To Program My Key Please Help!!! Thanks

The VTS fuse is a 7.5 amp fuse...it has nothing to do with the MPEM blowing that fuse. The most common causes are jump starting the ski or running with a bad battery.

You sound handy with tools so the fastest way to test this is place a Voltage Ohm Meter from ground loop to the 5 amp fuse location or red wire.
A short indicates the MPEM is bad. An open indicates you have another problem. I can assure you that you have a short. There is a member here that can repair you MPEM. His name is Mike, and his screen name is "All Things Custom" If you PM him I'm sure he will respond and help you get this working.

Karl may be right on this as I am not sure. This is info I received today inquireing about another 97 xp today by a 15+ year seadoo mechanic. But you now it realy dont mater as to the degrease that which we may hold or the experience that we may have. We can allways be wrong. Good luck Robin
