Best Pistons for 97SPX Full Rebuild -OEM, WSM, Pro-X, Weiseco?

I prefer pro-x pistons because they don't have an upper L-ring like the oem pistons do. if you seize a oem piston, that upper L-ring breaks free and typically destroys the head, and the rotary valve surface.

I can tell you for sure the WSM platinum piston are good. My Yammy GP1200 had them put in about 7 seasons ago and they are running strong. That ski gets beat and keeps on going...I might sell it since I now have 5 Ski's and 1 Jetboat. I am getting Pro X pistons in my 2- 717's being done by Fullbore now.. See how those go.

I have been using basic WSM pistons and gasket kits since the 90's and never had an issue for stock rebuilds. I haven't tried their platinum ones yet.

For a performance rebuild I would stick with OEM or Pro-X as others have said.

Thanks for the info guys. I just finished rebuilding a stock 951DI and used WSM pistons. Was jut curious as to what people thought about WSM pistons before I install it in my project ski.
