Battery!!!

Last year i took my ski (96 xp 800/787) to the local dealer and they told me i was running the wron battery and told me it was causing me problems it was a Deka gel cell battery and the ski started fine every time and never had any electrical probs but they pretty much made me change to a yuasa battery did i get ripped off i kept the old battery but i just thought it was kinda weird that it has to be a specific battery, any thoughts or comments??

I am not a battery expert but I can tell you that it shouldn't matter as long as it is a battery made to tip, like a gel cell what could the difference be. There is a CCA which is cold cranking amps and I would think there would not be a huge difference from battery to battery as long as the physical size is the same. Sounds like someone may have just wanted to sell a battery.
