Hello, I just got a new battery and forgot how the old was hooked up. I have done this:

#1 red to positive node
#2 black to negative
#3 i think the 3rd also goes to negative node but how. just over the negative lead touching or separated by a washer? or am i all wrong

Also, how does my batter get charged when motor operating? must be one of those 3 leads? is it the third?

thanks for reading.

Btw it seems ludicrous that sea doo is not outfit from factory with 2 batteries. I am on Lake Ontario and is no pleasant thought to go dead. Any thoughts on after market 2 battery systems or jump kits?

Sometimes besides the 2 big posts on batteries you'll have 2 smaller bolt studs 1 each by Pos & Neg. Sometimes they are different size....so check the fitting to see what bolt they fit........that is if you have that type of battery.

I have an extra red and black wire for asseccories and ground, etc.

See if it is easy to trace. It may go to something someone added. Such as a bilge pump for example. If they only had grey wire at the time it could be positive or negative,,,

Should be a negative wire. With just the larger negative attached your boat should start and run but you wont have any guages or lights or anything like that until you hook up the other wire. Also if the battery is the only thing you unhooked and the wire isn't red, then its probably a safe bet. My 05 180 has two negatives.
