Anyone done the 215HP to 255HP upgrade?

I just never understood spending that much money to buy a boat, putting a thousand dollars worth of fuel through it each year, and then trying to save $50 on the oil change.

Your logic is sound if you assume there are HUGE differences in the oil. My experience from vehicles over the year is I've had no apparent failure of vehicle related to oil choices. Since I drive huge miles (and do many oil changes) I've always bought low cost brand fully synth. But I'm one data point.

You can hang out on Bob the Oil Guys website all day and argue with oil nerds with and without data...but at the end of the day if the oil meets the manufactures spec then why pay more then you have too? Just cause the toy seems expensive isn't an argument to over pay...for me. I need to save money whenever I can to afford me ridiculous hobbies!

I know friends who think if you don't use OEM everything in your life you are voiding warranty and taking years off the life of their "thing" but some of us feel we under that in this modern day and age we are spitting hairs between manufactures.

It's like truing over who has the best mouth wash! Oil discussions are very touchy on every board I've ever been on...and trust me don't go near those nut bags on the Vw forums!

I'm not is one camp or the other as far as oil goes. I think those discussions are useless, as well. I've always believed that the frequency of oils change is much more important than synthetic vs. dino. I also put a ton of miles on my my vehicles, and take maintenance seriously.

I guess I treat the boat differently because of the way I use it. It sits for periods of time, has huge horsepower for its weight, and runs at relatively high rpm. I prefer to go OEM in that scenario. Purely personal preference.

NO way I can argue that at all! And +1 on the oil intervals. I do 10K miles oil changes with full synth on all vehicles with quality filters. Many of my cars are spec'd at 10K and even this at 7.5K still get the 10K treatment.

The funny thing is I have no problem spending $xxx.xx to make my boats right but I'll kick the bucket all day on a wheel bearing or sensors on my cars. Not sure why I complain about car maintenance but boats get the latest and greatest...no questions asked. Brains work funny some time!

I'm definitely not trying to save anything on the 1 oil change I'd have to do each year. I just prefer synthetic oil for its superior performance compared to dino...especially in such a high rpm environment. Honestly I was of the opinion that only the seadoo xps oil was acceptable for use in the supercharged machines. I'm just passing along some info that was brought to my attention.

And I agree that oil is one of those things you could debate all day and never find consensus.

I just wanted to throw the information out there. It was news to me.
