Yes.... I live in Cape coral. We ride the harbour/peace all the time. More during summer than winter tho, need rain to navigate the peace.

Shoot me a pm and we can share #'s.

Hey Spim, I actually met you a few years ago, good to see you're still around here. We've been doing the Myakka a lot lately because we've had the kids with us. We just put in at El Jobean and hit a spot just past the bridge. Been grilling, tubing, etc with friends and family there. Haven't been on the Peace River for a few years actually, just Myakka and the harbor lately.

I thought the Myakka was all idle speed ?

we've bounced in there (it was pretty shallow too) and idled up a couple of miles at best but it never opened up so we turned around.... did I turn around too soon ?

Bummer on Thursday, should be a good group, but no worries, the same group of clowns (10+ skies) try to go out every Thursday so maybe another time.

We're still making plans for the weekend: i'm pushing for Matlacha Park. (saturday, 10am ish?)
not too far from PC... maybe 25 minutes ? we generally run up matlacha pass, then back and into the west side of the harbour until fuel runs low.

Its not definite yet but that's the tentative plan, i'm either riding local or not riding at all, I have a boat-load of parts I need to list on fleabay from my recent part out, the crates are getting out of control in the garage.

4577 Pine Island Road N.W.. Matlacha, FL 33993

Mods?

can we leave this here in the 2 stroke for a few days before moving it to the doo-er section ? Just in case there are some other local's that will spot it here and never go to that area...

I'd really really like (and I think Coastiejoe agrees) to get the Florida members more organized for some group rides, and just general all around jackassery...

Lol, I forget there are even other sections here haha.

As for the Myakka, I have never heard anything about that and I've never seen anyone idling. Under the 776 bridge/fishing pier is a no wake, so maybe you saw that sign and just kept at it? It is definitely fairly shallow in spots, but it is also fairly quiet too, especially where we hang out and since we are there with our 6 year old and 2 1/2 year old, that works well for us.

Wife works every Thursday and every other weekend. I think this is why we never really got together last time lol.

Just looked it up, apparently it is a "slow speed, minimum wake" zone. I never knew that and never saw signs stating that. I see people tubing, skiing, racing, etc. back there all the time so I never even imagined it was a slow speed zone.

lol, ya, i was questioning my eyesight and memory: but the only two times I poked around back there I was with a buddy who is in the coast guard so he's pretty farking strict when it comes to speed limits and idle zones, (me: not so much, so he keeps me in check)

I'm one of those guys that thinks the 25mph speed limit in the channel means slow down to 25 when you see a boat that might be FWC.... I tend to cruise in the 35-45 range if conditions are smooth. But as you know the harbor can get pretty dam nasty when the wind picks up and then your lucky to keep your speed at 25 as your bouncing over 2.5 feet of chop.

We usually launch from Laishley or Harbor Heights mainly out of convenience, both are a short drive from where we come out at Burnt Store/Jones Loop. We have launched from the park before where the beach is (is that El jobean?) And when we launched from Laishley and headed up towards the Myakka we always stopped and took a break at the park, it's a nice little beach area there.

The beach was probably port charlotte beach.

I spoke with someone else who said the myakka ISN'T speed restricted in the charlotte county area, you're allowed to be on plane. I'll have to dig around a bit more. With the number of people I've seen flying back there, I don't see how it can be a no wake area lol. The spot we hang at is nice too, it's off to the side in the shallow area, so we get no traffic whatsoever. Perfect for family outings and chilling out.
