do boats have an alternator ? if not ho does the battery stay charged cuz this weekend i was out with my wife n friends shut off engine played the radio and when i went to start the low 12v came on i drove for a while and havent had the problem again but i also havent played radio cuz i dont want to b stuck on lake with no charge

thank you what do you mean stator though

To be clearer and perhaps more acurate/specific, The boat has a magneto and the definition of the magneto is below and it is right from the service manual.

Magneto
The magneto is the primary source of electrical
energy. It transforms a magnetic field into an electric
current (AC) .

Then you have the Regulator/Rectifier

Voltage Regulator/Rectifier
The rectifier receives AC current from the magneto
and transforms it into direct current (DC).

The voltage regulator
limits voltage to a maximum level to prevent any
damage to electrical components.

Can't help but think though you may have learned a lesson. Don't forget you need enough juice to start your motor. The magneto only works when the motor is running. I keep a booster pack on board for heading to the beach... just in case! Had to use it once already (fell asleep... stupid comfortable rocking motion of the waves... zzzzz

booster pack i read about those ill look into it cuz the engine it to loud to leave running and listen to music luckily my father inlaw has a place on the lake i take it two most of the time so if their is an issue i can dock their did it last week when my wife got the tube rope sucked up into the intake last Saturday thankfully it only wrapped up the impeller shaft and didnt make it to the jet so i put it in his lift and cut it out

Does anyone know what the voltage should read if checked at the battery posts while running?
