I was curious if anyone has attempted or had any luck running an alternator of the clutch plate or the output shaft? I've been considering doing this with a light weight one-wire race style alternator. The purpose for it is to drive my audio system, nothing else. Thanks!
I'm pretty sure a 2006 Challenger is a 4-tec, so I will move it to that section. Personally if it were me I would just add a second battery, probably less money and a simpler solution.

Lou, my apologies. I listed my boat as a 2006 but it's actually a 96 model. Yes, I'm aware of adding a 2nd deep cycle battery but the curious technician in me wants to try the alternator route. When your daily job in the Navy is work on a system developed by NASA's aerospace division you tend to think outside of the box a lot. All signs show it can be done, I'm just worried about the output shaft walking on me. Although the belt wouldn't cause much tension, that small amount could cause some balance issues.
