I am a new owner of a 98 GSX limited and I know I need to replace the grey fuel lines but I have no idea how to get to the lines that are under the manifold? It also seems like the manifold would have to be taken off to get to the carbs in order to clean them? I also tried to take the fuel selector off by unscrewing the screw under the rubber cap to get the knob off but it wouldnt budge and I didnt want to start prying on it, is there a trick to get it off?

Thanks

how do you rate yourself with turning a wrench? Dont take this personal, but if you had a hard time, figuring out how the fuel switch is to be removed, i would advise starting a "thread" if anyones' in the Toledo area, from this forum, for help.

I am no professional but can get the job done. Not having any directions I dont just want to start prying on stuff and breaking it. I wasnt sure if there could be a nut that I couldnt see or if it was just stuck. Cautious approch is better than just breaking it for no reason. A better response on your part could have been its just stuck instead of taking shots, and your dont take this personal is BS. I thought forums like this was for answering questions.

Things are getting a little out of hand here. Re: the fuel selector switch, there's a small round plastic cover at the center of the knob, pry the cover off, there's a Phillips screw underneath. You may need to pry the knob off.

Have you removed the air box? If not remove it, things will be a lot clearer. Clearances are really tight in a lot of places, an inspection mirror may help.

As far as replacing the fuel lines, just do one at a time, I like to tape the new one to the old one and just pull it through. Just take your time. Here is a link that should help.
