Yes, it’s very likely that a failing stator would act differently warm than cold. It wouldn’t hurt to do the test while it’s having the problem...
 
Alright boys!! Almost a year since my last post and I am now halfway through replacing the stator. Getting the exhaust pipe out was not an easy job, getting the front cover off the block wasn't too bad. I was hoping to see the stator in really bad shape, but honestly...looked good. I'm hoping that since the issue only happens when it is hot, that there is a small spot within the coils that is causing the issue. A new stator is ordered and is on the way. Hopefully I'll be turning donuts and making waves very soon!
 
Need some help. I'm putting the exhaust/water pipe back on and can't get it to line up correctly. I was able to get it out in one piece (not breaking the middle seal) and have "snaked" it back into it's spot, but the holes are off just a bit. Am I just not wiggling it enough to get it in the right spot? Is there an order of bolts to get "finger tight" as you work it into the right spot?
