One tach on my 98 challenger 1800 quit working. Having a terrible time finding a compatible tach that will work. Used ones are $250. I don't care if it matches. Looking for a good durable tach that will fit this boat for under $100. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can't remember if that year had the 2" or 3" tach. BUT............ seadoo tach's are all swapable. (except with the Merc powered boats) So... get on ebay, and buy a seadoo tach that is the right size, and it will work.

I don't know if this is important to you, if you buy a tach. made for a ski it won't have a light in it.

I too have a tach out and after months of searching ebay for a reasonably priced one I decided to go with a tiny tach type. It cost only $16 and works great. The refresh rate is great and it now has an hour meter & maintenance timer. The only mods I had to make were extending the pickup wire on it and adding some extra sealant to make sure no water got in. Second time out this summer the other factory tach started acting up so I am ordering a second tiny tach for it. If this is something you might be interested in let me know and I can post details and pics of my installation. As far as lighting the tachs, i don't run at night, but if i find the need to I am thinking a small led accent light strip under the windshield or external led gauge light.

Has anyone had any luck fixing the original bombardier tachs or know where I can get the schematics? I still have my non-working ones in hopes that someone either has or comes up with a fix similar to the fuel baffle fuse and mpem diode ones.
