97 gts boggs above half throttle

I just bought my first PWC and took it out this weekend. It rode fine with a little throttle. starts fine idles fine. When you push the throttle to open it up it runs about 2 to 5 seconds and shuts down to idle speed with the throttle still opened up. if you let off the throttle it will take off again when pushed again then stop again in the same time frame. it doesn't die comepletely each time but when it does it starts right up. I'm lost since I've never owned one but had fun when we rode it so I would like to get back out asap. any help would be greatly appreciated.

tear them out and clean them (internal)
