I have a 96 GTX, I just got done rebuilding the carbs and finally got it running correctly and today I was out in the ocean and kept picking up seaweed. I dont know it that was directly related or not, however I did notice it vibrating more with the weeds in the intake before I cleared them off.
Anyway, I had to clear it several times because of the amount of weeds. Later I noticed it cavitating after I cleared it untill I could get it plained off. Similar to when the wear ring went bad last year. Anyway, I parked at the sand bar for about an hour and came back and the ski was full of water, (almost over the battery) so we pulled the drainplugs and towed it home. When I pulled it out, I saw water pouring from around the shaft.
( the good part is that I was able to clean the engine compartment out and get the ski running without to much problems)
Anyway, does anyone know where I should start? Did the cavitaing cause this, and how do I go about fixing it?
Thanks Mark

Severe vibration will damage the carbon wear ring.....this is inside the hull and spring loaded with a rubber boot.

This is located above the topmost clamp on the rubber boot in the photo below.

If it is cracked or missing and the rubber boot damaged, then you will have water entering there.
