Looking at one to buy this week . Has a fuel issue the owner claims . Says he took to mechanic and they put a new baffle , filter and fuel switch and still wouldn't stay running .
So what should I look at when I go see it ???
Is it worth the hassle , are they a good ski ??

Gonna try and get a compression tester to take with me , if I do what numbers should I see ??

155 ON THE 787. 150-717. TEST THE FUEL ROUTING and CARB SUCTION. May be old gas. Will it stay running if pre-mixed fuel is squirted into airbox ??

Not sure , but can find out .
He claims he took it to the shop and they replaced the baffle , filter and switch and then told him the carbs needed rebuilt as it would not hold fuel pressure or something like that .

Was asking $1500 but talked him to $900 with trailer and cover .
Hoping it just needs something like carb rebuilds or fuel line , something simple . I can do any work it would need myself . Might need some advice though .

Get a compression gauge and do a compression test. If it has less then 145psi per hole I'd walk away from the deal.

No doubt that it needs the carbs done right, just not sure what engine damage(if any) has been done by running it without the carbs done right.

Don't forget to replace the check valves for the fuel system. Also the oring for the water separator. It will never prime if its got an air leak

Yeah I was planning on doing a compression test so hopefully I could tell if cylinder was worn from them riding with not enough fuel or something.
