Last night I finally got my xp's motor running again after a full top end rebuild. I pulled it out and hooked it to the hose this afternoon to try to tune the carb a bit. I guess after the carb rebuild I didn't turn the idle screw back in all the way. So I cranked it up and the engine raced up to excessive RPMs. the lanyard got pulled after maybe 3 seconds, but just before it got pulled there was a reasonably loud bang. the engine cut off and I looked in to find this.

Does anyone have any idea what the hell happened here? I have virtually rebuilt the entire ski excluding the pump because it seemed to be in good shape.
I looked through the manual and don't see mention of any kind of bearing or carrier that should be sitting in that little fiberglass ring, but does this mean my hull is dead?
