Will not start. Have spark, battery good and cranks, I have compression and sprayed ether into the cylnders and it will not start at all. It was riden hard and irresponsibly b4 it crapped out. I dont feel like wrenching on this. Local dealers will not work on anything older than 10 years. Is there any one in San Diego North County willing to work on these? I should have just rented them for as little as I intend to ride them. Trashman will not haul them away.

Ignition coil I presume

You are talking about the primary side of the ignition coil located in the electrical box port side midship? We did have that box out for inspection. Where should it be physically grounded to and if it were not grounded it would never induce a field to the secondary and create a spark, correct????
Is there a way to check for relative timing position while under power of the starter motor? Is there a way that it can be stuck on timing advance? I have an after market manual that does not give any type of theory of operation and is vague at best. This seadoo was run hard and irresponsibly b4 we started having problems. I do have an identical seadoo on the same trailer which still starts but not as well as it did b4 this girl rode them.

Timing.........

It seems your pretty versed on the theory of an engine, if you understand "advancing" the timing.
These engines are put together with it set. There is no real "timing" to work with. The only thing that may be at issue, is the pick up coil which tells the plugs when to fire.

You have a generating coil and a lightning coil that are adjustable. But, if you've not taken it apart and you've got spark, then this really shouldn't be of issue.

You can shear the woodruff key, then the crank spin a bit over, not sparking at the proper time. But even chances of this occuring, is slim. It is a 93 model, so I wouldn't dismiss any of this.

You should never, NEVER use any type of starting fluid containing ether. There is on oiling properties and can actually blow out your seals if it does hit.

If your sure you got spark, take about a cap full of gas and oil mix, put into each spark plug hole and give it a try. ........post again.

What was the results of the compression test?

OK

I tried the gas/oil from my chain saw first. I wanted just to get it to fart alittle with the starting fluid. The compression was 120psi with a cheap tester, my real tools were stolen in 2001.
I saw some info about grey hoses I have black USCG type 81 #16000 something in orange writing the clamps are factor type crimp bands am I good to go with that?
Are there any quick checks for the woodruff key. I doubt these motors are strong enough to throw one of them. I dont think the girl that broke the pwc got airborne with it but she is not willing to give us any info as to what happened when it broke.

Not alot

I did get the motor to fart a little and it dumped quite a bit of water out the exhaust. I wasnt riding it when it stopped running. I wasnt the one who broke it and the culpret will not say what happened so I have to assume the worst.I plan on draining all the fuel and blowing the exhaust system out to remove water b4 I go further. I would like to know where that ignition coil is grounded at and the color of the wire (that you had mentioned). I keep hearing about the teathered kill switch from people here and elsewhere. Is this a when in doubt change it out item? I got the other GTX starting great but have yet to put it in the water (she drove that one after the other one stopped completely).

quik timing check. put a screwdriver in front plug hole. eyeball up TDC. is there a timing mark? no? make one with a pen. use something on the engine for a reference. i cut a window in the plastic PTO cover. now crank with timing light. should flash about 10 degrees before the spot you marked as TDC. lanyard switch; if dead, won't crank or spark. kill switch. if dead no spark.
