I finally got the pump (had a cracked one) and a new Solas 15/20 impeller on my 99 GTX Limited. I see 6490 RPM and indicated 55 mph(dreamometer) on pretty smooth but not flat water.

Is this normal or should it go faster?

RPM is Low by about at least 300 and that is being conservative. You might have a Water control Valve problem. I've worked on a couple of GTXs with the 951 and both went 55mph minimum. I use GPS speeds. I never trust the speedometer. LOL

I actually had 50 on gps. I thought it should go better.

So the water control valve issue would cause the exhaust to be too restricted or too hot??

Some go faster than 55mph. I haven't seen one go less. I never get them broken-in all the way though so I don't know how fast they go when the loosen up a bit. I had a 951 DI that ran 6930 RPM. Generally I like to see more than 6800 from any ski. 6900 and I'm like oh yea baby !! :)

Water control valve issues are right in the range you are having issues with your ski. It is worth checking out. You could also look for an exhaust restriction. Those exhaust hoses come apart internally. Feel for a soft spot.

"E" is right,,,mine collapsed in side the hose,,,didn't have enough water in the water box.

I will check the hoses. Thanks!

Is it usually the long curved one or the short ones?
