anybody out there heard of this. my buddy just picked up a new 2012 speedster 260 and the dealer told him it has changed to a 25 hr inspection then a sc rebuild at 200 hrs. whats new in there or will my 09 also go 200hrs.

Yes its true for the 2012 boats for sure, I've heard possibly for 2011 also. I just picked up a 2012 Speedster 150 with the supercharger and my dealer told me the 1st service is now 25hrs rather than 10 and the supercharger service (rebuild) is now 200 hrs.

The service manual for all 2010 models says to inspect slipping moment of superchargers every 200 hrs or 2 years. 10 hour inspection still the same. Most people still like to stick too the 100 hr supercharger service.

Its not the 2012 manual but the 200 hr service has been around for a few years now.

Where the confusion is coming from is the 10 hr is an inspection and the 25 hr is the first service according to BRP.

Interesting ... I called my dealer today as I hit 10 hrs on the weekend asking when to bring it in. He told me I don't need to bring it in till 25 hrs. He said this was changed recently by BRP.

really? So they only "inspect" it at 10 hours? I thought it was a service, with an oil change, like in a motorcycle? I'm not paying $260 for a "inspection". I think i'll call and ask what they do.

I had the same questions as you so I emailed BRP and this was their response.

Thank you for contacting BRP.

In response to your request, the break in inspection is scheduled at 10 hrs (please see attached file), and the first maintenance is scheduled at 25 hrs. This might have been the confusion.

I can tell you that the manual does say to bring it in for 10 hour inspection / service. The dealer here in Florida told me that it needed to be brought in at 10 hours for the initial service. I was told that it was part of the requirements of the warranty and the extended warranty that is on the boat. It cost me $235.
