hey Guys

bought a speedster in the winter and hence couldn't start it

soooo,

getting ready to enjoy this summer

charged battery
inserted key got a beep
tried to start and then all electrics went dark

now no power at all to cluster or otherwise

I need a checklist as I'm new, but have always dealt with my cars..so I am proficient under the hood.

as detailed as possible (locations, colours , numbers, etc) I would be grateful for.

Battery is charged..and again there was power until I attempted to start

click...then dead

I assume a relay? but where or fuse but where?

Thanks in advance.

So do you have any power at all? Do the nav and anchor lights work? Horn and stereo? Just because the battery is charged, doesn't mean it's good. How old is the battery? Have you had it load tested?

I believe your fuse boxes are located in the engine compartment on the port side and also under the driver's dash.

had power to all but when i started it

it all went dark

and now nothing

even with the charger on

is there a master power distribution fuse/relay?

If you have the repair manual, you should be able to find your wiring diagram. My manual has the schematics for a 2012 speedster. Not sure if your '08 is the same, but if it is, you need to check the fuse panels for any blown fuses (see pic). Not sure if there are any fuses near the master cut off switch. You're going to have to get in there and start checking things. Post pics if you have issues.

Master switch is in the engine bay I believe, but not positive. Mine is located behind the driver's seat.

How many volts is the battery reading? You're not getting power anywhere (lights, stereo, etc)?

ok i got power now a lack luster starter

any input before i haul the battery out for a load test

Man that sounds like a weak battery. If you crank it for more than few seconds will it crank or does it cut out after a second or so like the video? If I hold my starter button down, she'll crank as long as I hold the button.

I'd take the battery out and have it checked. It's a pretty easy thing to remove.

First things, first. You absolutely have to know you have a good battery. If you decide, that it is good, you may want to check the positive cable to your starter. You will have to get in there in crank your head, upside down, and see if it looks good. If the cable is melted, charred, you may have a starter that is failing, and you just don't have enough AMPS to turn it over...

Have you checked ALL the fuses? Did you figure out what you touched to get power? Loose wires are not a good thing...

You have a bad battery I am betting. Could be a poor connection and or a starter. But based on your description it souled like a battery issue.
