Someone has a 2006 Seadoo Gtx 185 SC listed for $2800 with a single trailer. It has been listed for 4 months and was originally listed for $4000. The ski has 96 hours on it and the owner says the wear ring, impeller, oil and coolant has been recently serviced or changed. The owner has had the ski for 2 years and said he is unsure if the supercharger has been serviced. The owner reports he last had the ski out on labor day and it runs as it should.

This seems like a decent deal to me. I was going to go look the ski over, hook it up to a hose, see how it runs and see what the guy would take. It is currently 32 degrees out where I live so it is too cold to water test the ski.

If I got the ski the first thing I would do is rebuild the supercharger. I have did a decent amount of research on these skis and from what I have read as long as the supercharger is routinely maintenanced they can be good skis and reliable.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should be looking out for when I look over the ski? I live in Delaware, does the price seem reasonable?

Bring a 10mm socket in a driver gun and take the seat bridge off and then loosen the sc intake hose with a 5/16" nut driver and pull the hose off and check the slip on the sc impeller wheel. Takes about 3 minutes. If it has no free spin and just a little back and forth wiggle it is still good meaning the ceramic washers haven't broken yet.
I can usually tell if the supercharger has been rebuilt just by looking at by the clamps positioning, even good seadoo techs don't put them on in the exact position or direction that the factory does very consistently. I prefer to find them when they haven't been rebuilt because many times they will fail and break the ceramic washers, and they won't pull the engine to clean out all the ceramic shards that will ruin the engine. Instead, they just rebuild the supercharger and sell it and in a few hours the engine will fail.
