I have a 2002 Utopia that is running ridiculously rich, It smokes like crazy, goes through fuel like crazy and barely starts when its warm. Ive tried a new temperature sensor and it didn't really do it, I've put pin new plugs and tried a brand new battery. It seems to run fine at w.o.t. but it definatley stumbles at idle. One thing I tried this weekend is I replaced the port side temperature sensor with a 100 ohm resistor, to simulate that the engine is hot at all times and it did make it smoke a tad bit less and start up easier, however the idle is now really low, 950 or so. I am wondering if it could possibly be my throttle position sensor out of adjustment, I just recently purchased this boat and have no idea its history but I did notice a section in the manual where it says adjusting this could make it run richer or leaner, however it says you need a special cable to check it. Is there anyway to make your own cable or does anyone know if yu can just turn it clockwise or counterclockwise in small increments till you see a change. I have been told by everyone that sees the boat it is running to rich and it smokes black too... Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated, Its stranded me and my family at least twice now, I'm almost scared to use it....
