I have a friend who is selling a 2000 GSX. The ski is in excellent condition (according to friend) and it has very few hours. He bought the ski brand new in 2000. He claims he put most of the hours on it that Summer it was new. His brother took it out once at the beginning of last Summer, and it has been stored ever since. It comes with the original cover and trailer. He said he is willing to let me have it for $3,000. If I don't buy it, he claims he's going to ask $4,000. Is this a good price? What's the reputation of this ski?

i would say like 2500 or so but if really clean shape he could get 3k i see them overpriced right now to though because the season to ride is coming, if its in really good shape and compressions good and it fires up good, it wont be a bad deal

Thanks guys. Compared to what I'm seeing around here, $3,000 sounded pretty good for the way he described it. I guess I'll find out for sure next week. He's supposed to bring it here. I'll take pics of it and post them to get another opinion from the forum.

I think the price is a bit high at $3000. I've seen plenty of GSX's 98-00 go for around $1750-$2250 with a trailer. He says low hours, but what is it? I've seen people with 160 hours on a 2-stroke advertise as low hours. That's not low in my book.

Also, if it has been sitting for long periods of time and forgotten about, you could potentially have lots of problems. Just don't pull the trigger too quickly before you know exactly what you are getting into.

EDIT: I would add that if it truely is in pristine condition $3000 is not that bad, especially as was previous mentioned, at the beginning of the riding season.

The sitting around part is what concerns me most. I'm going to have my Seadoo guy take it to the lake with me before I make any decisions. I'll see about getting that price down, too.
