The wear ring is a different story. It normally comes down to a performance issue. If you get cavitation, it is one of a few issues. If it is the wear ring, you would change it.
The gap from the impeller to the wear ring should not exceed the width of the dime. If it is that wide or wider, it needs replaced.

Ok good to know thanks , I recently bought this jet ski and the previous owner had it sitting in his backyard for about a year without use . It started up fine and the compression was good 150 on both cylinders but the minute I brought it home it started giving me problems . First the headache of finding out why engine wouldn't turn over unless I took the spark plugs out which turned out to be a bad ground wire . At least now it has a new starter and battery cause of it lol. Then when I took it out on the water to test it would bog badly, Read some threads on here and seen gray tempo fuel lines were a no no so changed all them out and cleaned my fuel selector which was horrible , cleaned the carbs and back to the water I go to do a test run . It ran ok but still kinda bogging unless I milked the throttle and after a couple of waves jumped one of the clamps holding the rubber to my exhaust broke and engine filled with smoke thank God I had took the boat out also and was able to get towed.this jet ski has become a project ski now and I don't want to take it out again until I know all main parts are covered. I ordered the complete carb kit from osd marine parts , I will check tomorrow the wear ring to see if it does need changing now that you told me what to look for. If you have any other suggestions on having my jet ski in top shape I would highly appreciate the help. Thanks again
Did you order and OEM Gasket kit? If not, do not use them. Also, I would not change the pop off springs. Test the pop off,,, if it is good, leave the original springs there. In MANY cases, the new springs never work as good as the originals..

No I didn't order the gasket kit didn't think that was a major problem only the carbs kit and thanks for the heads up on the springs . What do you think about the oil in jet pump can it go bad after a year of sitting there ? Should I worry about it or ride it out I honestly don't even know how to change it , I've read some threads on it and even some YouTube videos but if is not that big of an issue I would rather change it after this season is over would I be ok with that same oil in there for now .

What are you getting in the "Carb Kit"... Normally it is gaskets and diaphrams kind of thing. If this is the case and they are NOT OEM gaskets,,, do not use them. You WILL be re-doing the carbs...
The fact that this has been sitting, you know nothing about the nose cone oil. I would replace,,, Simple as that. I would replace and or test ANYTHING that is a normal maintenance item. Used skis bring issues that you have no knowledge of,,
Ok so I'll change it out just be sure then also I've looked at the kit and it says it includes all oem parts , I tried to post a picture but it just keeps saying error
