I just bought a 1997 GSX jetski a few months ago from a friend at work. Took it out this weekend for the 2nd time. Started out running great. But as the day went on it would just kill while riding. Would have to crank it up again. It would run a little while then kill again. As the day went on it got to the point where I had to have the choke pulled all the way out to run. I did remove the fuel filter under the storage compartment and found it to be full of a black gritty substance. I cleaned it out but no improvement. Finally it wouldn't stay running no matter what I did. It appears that two inline filters were installed by the owner in the gray fuel line just before the carberators. No manufacturer name just has FF3403/G stamped on filter. I haven't changed these yet. I assme that this are after market because Seadoo does not have them in their parts diagragm. I have also read someting about the gray fuel lines. Are these defective and if so where can I get some better ones. Any advise will help. Thanks!!

Grey fuel lines.........

Yes, the grey fuel lines is the source of your problems. You will have to replace, at the minimum, the supply and return lines of the carbs. You'll also have to remove the carbs and clean the strainer basket on the inside.

There are several threads and posts of this problem. Use the search engine above and use key word "grey fuel lines".

You might find it a good idea to also use the parts link on the top right hand side of the page. Look up your model and year. In the drop down box, choose carbs. Then, looking at the exploded view, you'll see where that small strainer basket is located. It MUST be cleaned after the lines are replaced.

The pulse line and the vent line are not constantly flooded with fuel, so you may save a few bucks and elect not to replace them. I've also been told that the vent line is very tough to get to. If possible, replace them all. If not, the ones I mentioned above will be fine.
